On the 25th April 2012, Dr Helen Schofield, director-operator and vet of Franklin Zoo and Wildlife Sancturary, tragically lost her life in a terrible accident involving her beloved elephant Mila. Helen delivered a powerful seminar for ZSA members in 2009 and the ZSA held a field trip style working bee to Franklin Zoo in late 2010. Helen's enthusiasm, knowledge and commitment to animal welfare was exemplary and although we are all the poorer for losing her, those that knew her are all the richer.
Our condolences and best wishes go to Jenny, Sylvia and Tom, and all the Franklin Zoo staff and friends.
